Cotton. From Blue to Green.™was an important part of this year’s Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour. Each Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour event school participated in the Cotton. From Blue to Green.™ denim drop program, which was designed to assist the state of Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
How can denim help rebuild a community? Since cotton is a natural, renewable and recyclable fiber, the
donated denim will be turned into UltraTouch™ natural cotton
fiber insulation by JBM Fibers and Bonded
Logic. The eco-friendly insulation will be donated and used as building materials for a primary school in Louisiana.
How did we collect the
denim? Ran by student organizations at each Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour event school, students collected denim around campus and in their community for two weeks leading up to the Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour event at their campus. The day before the event got to the campus, our tour staff began setting up the Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour tents and activities. On the event day, the student organization that had been coordinating the denim drop over the past couple of weeks operated the Cotton. From
Blue to Green.™ tent and collected as much denim as possible! At the end of the tour, the denim will be turned into UltraTouch™ natural cotton
fiber insulation and donated to help rebuild a primary school
in the
East Baton Rouge Parish through Advance Baton Rouge.
